Eating bread while you have a hangover is often cited as a way to overcome it quicker. This may be because the bread will reach your stomach and absorb some of the alcohol instead of allowing it to absorb into your body. Most people find that eating a few hot dog buns may help them cure their hangover symptoms.

Out of all of the ways to cure a hangover, the most effective by far is sleep. Try to get as much sleep as you can and just let the alcohol work through your system. However, this method unfortunately takes a lot of time and is often not very practical in all cases.

The Hangover Charity Poker Tournament

In anticipation of the release of the new comedy “The Hangover,” hosted a celebrity charity poker tournament at The Poker Room of Caesars Palace last Friday, the stars of the latest Vegas-based comedy, “The Hangover,” will return to the scene of their soon-to-be-released film on Friday for a star-studded poker tournament.

Heather Graham, Zach Galifianakis and Bradley Cooper are three of the celebrities expected to attend the event, which will support Opportunity Village.

Other members of the cast, including Ed Helms and Justin Bartha, and director Todd Phillips will also participate.

The private poker tournament took place in The card game will be closed to the public.

Heather Graham has become the latest celebrity to fall for the poker madness after hitting the tables in Las Vegas while making her new movie the Hangover.

Heather Graham admits that she never had any interest in the game before but now she’s hooked – and let in gambling brings out her nasty side.

“We had a poker tournament and I did really well; I came in fourth!” ,”Poker is pretty vicious and dark. It brings out an ugly side of me that’s pretty competitive.” Heather Graham said.

When the stars of the new film The Hangover shot their location scenes in and near Caesars Palace, they promised to return for the press promotion. They also wanted to do something special for our beloved local charity Opportunity Village, and our contributing photographer Erik Kabik was on hand to capture the action.

True to their word, the cast led by director Todd Phillips organized a celebrity poker tournament to benefit Opportunity Village. Taking part were actress Heather Graham and her boyfriend Yaniz Raz and actors Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Justin Bartha and a bearded Zach Galifianakis, who played with his dad, Harry Galifianakis, and came in third place.

The tournament winner was Aaron Wong, who helped present the ,000 check to Linda Smith, Opportunity Village’s director.

The movie “Hangover” premiers on June 5.

The premise of the film involves four friends: Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Justin Bartha who come to Las Vegas from L.A. for a bachelor party.

The men wake up the next morning missing the groom Justin Bartha, a tooth, and all memory of what happened the night before.

Their suite at Caesars Place is completely trashed, and there’s a tiger in the living room; a baby crying in the bathroom; and an unexpected wedding ring on one of their fingers.

The groomsmen are forced to retrace their steps from the night before in effort to find their friend and get him back to L.A. in time for his wedding.

While Heather Graham, who plays the woman Bradley Cooper accidentally marries during the booze-fueled night of debauchery.

The term ‘hangover’ was coined in 1904 to describe the sum total of unpleasant physiological after-effects of a night of heavy drinking. The medical term for hangover is veisalgia. It is a common phenomenon with drinkers. The body responds negatively to ingestion of high amounts of alcohol or other similar intoxicating drugs. The phenomenon of hangover takes place in the morning following the night of heavy alcohol consumption.

However for some it may continue for several days from the last date of alcohol consumption. The degree of hangover is determined by factors like age, diet before alcohol consumption, physical condition and mental state. There is no rigid parameter to determine exactly how many drinks would cause hangover, for it varies from person to person. But an approximate statistic says that consumption of 4-5 pegs usually causes hangover.

Only 20-25% people are able to resist the effects of hangover.

The general symptoms of hangover include dehydration, headache, lethargy, dysphoria, irritability, lack of concentration, dizziness, sensitivity to light and sound, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, sleeplessness, bad taste in mouth, tremors, hyper-salivation, increased hunger, rapid heart rate, fever, increased libido and flatulence. Hangover also deteriorates one’s psychological state, causing severe depression and anxiety. The causes of hangover may be listed as follows:

1. Drinking much in less time
2. Drinking with empty stomach
3. Poor health
4. Dehydrated body
5. Lack of sleep.

Home Remedies for Hangover

1. Consume Vitamin C rich citrus fruits in plenty in the morning after alcohol consumption to free yourself from hangover.

2. Add half cup lime juice to a glass of water and drink the solution. This is a useful home remedy for hangover.

3. Increase water intake, for water counters the effect of high levels of alcohol in body and decreases the intensity of hangover symptoms.

4. Peel off banana and soak peel in water. Cool the water and drink to get rid of hangover.

5. A glass of chocolate milk at bedtime releases one from hangover.

6. Honey contains high amounts of fructose that neutralizes the impact of alcohol. Taking 1 tablespoon honey cures hangover.

7. Prepare a concoction by pouring few drops of lemon juice in to a cup of sugar free black coffee. Drink the concoction. This solves the problem of hangover amazingly.

8. Peppermint tea or ginger tea may be drunk frequently. It is an effective hangover cure.

9. Drinking tomato juice cures hangover.

10. Sip from a solution of lime juice, water and 1 teaspoon sugar throughout the day. This is beneficial in treating hangover.

11. Boil or rather simmer 5-6 crushed thyme leaves in a cup of hot water for 5 minutes. Strain and drink the tea. This is a helpful hangover remedy.

12. Taking warm water bath the next morning helps to treat hangover by eliminating toxins.

13. Immerse handkerchief in chilled water. Apply it on forehead to lessen hangover headaches.

Funniest Movie of 2009 – The Hangover

Coming up with the winner of the title of funniest movie of 2009 was far easier than such a comparison has been in previous years. That’s not to say there was a lack of funny movies this year. Films like <i>Zombieland, I Love You, Man</i> and <i>Bruno</i> all had more than their fair share of laughs. However, none of these comedy films could hold a candle to <i>The Hangover</i> when it came to delivering the humor.

Starring Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms and Justin Bartha <i>The Hangover</i> is a classic buddy movie about three friends (well two friends, and a soon-to-be brother-in-law) who take their buddy Doug to Vegas for one last bachelor blowout before he gets married. However, the fun gets a little out of control and the trio passes out and when they wake up they have no memory of what happened the night before. To make matters worse the groom-to-be is missing, and they have no idea what has happened to him.

From that point forward the three try and retrace the events of the previous night in order to try and figure where and when they lost their buddy. Obviously I won’t go into details because I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone who hasn’t seen the movie, but suffice it to say the trio have plenty of misadventures along the way, and unlike most comedy movies that start out strong, only to fade in the middle, this film keeps the laughs coming right up until the end credits role.

As you can see by the general plot of the movie, Justin Bartha, who plays the groom, actually has very little screen time. Bradley Cooper from <i>Wedding Crashers</i> and Ed Helms of NBS’s <i>The Office</i> are both hilarious as nearly polar opposites who clash continually during the hunt for their missing friend. However, it is Zach Galifianakis, who plays Doug’s future brother-in-law, who really steals the show. Beyond stupid, Galifianakis’s character Alan is a constant annoyance to his fellow groomsmen throughout the film, constantly making bad decisions and asking ridiculous (though very amusing) questions the whole time.

If you are in the mood for a laugh-out-loud comedy and you haven’t seen <i>The Hangover</i> then you definitely need to check it out when it comes out on DVD and Blu-ray December 15th. And make sure you don’t turn off the player before the end credits role. There is some bonus footage that is just as funny as the rest of the film.

The film is a typical duder comedy, full of potty humor, cocks, and drunken shenanigans. In short, it’s what you wish every day of your life was like… minus the presence of Mike Tyson, of course. In the film, three friends and a functioning retard head off to Las Vegas to have themselves an awesome bachelor party. Of course, we get to see none of it, as the guys get so fucked up that they wake up the next morning and find out that none of them can remember shit and that they are missing the soon-to-be married groom. What follows is a madcap romp through Vegas, complete with drug dealers named Doug, a tiny-dicked Ken Jeong, and a breast-feeding stripper. It’s a solid exercise in grossout comedy, and it’s definitely the best comedy of this year by far.

For a comedy, The Hangover sports some pretty hefty direction by Todd Phillips. Most comedies are simple “line ‘em up, make a joke, and shoot efforts,” but Phillips takes this movie to the next level with some awesome surprises throughout the movie. He tries to keep everything moving at a fast pace, and there is virtually no slow down in the film. Phillips is aided by the camera friendly scenery of Vegas and some of the best comedy writing you’ll ever see.

The LPM’s in this movie are higher than the typical flick, but they aren’t nearly as high as everyone is making them out to be. Morons will laugh at every joke in this flick, while the smarter among us will find quite a few that fall flat. Still, the ratio of successful cracks to shitty cracks is satisfying enough to keep you from looking at your watch. Of course, one disturbing trend that I have come across while watching movies, and this one in particular, is the fact that the penis is rapidly evolving into a comedic staple… which is weird. Since when did a cock become a joke? Even if it is really small.

Whatever the case, The Hangover is a continuation of the comedic arc towards total anarchy that was begun in such movies as Knocked Up, Superbad, and Tropic Thunder. Nothing is sacred here, and soon we’ll be watching movies that are so over the top, that they will manage to offend everyone. But for now, the balance between irreverence and humor is struck perfectly in The Hangover.

Hangover Cures – How to Beat Even the Worst Hangover

Hangover cures vary in effectiveness for person to person. What works for one may not work for another. You need to experiment with various hangover cures to find the one(s) that work best for you.

(Of course the best hangover cure is to not drink too much, but as many of us know, that’s sometimes easier said than done.) The key to hangover cures lies in the prevention of the hangover altogether. The following is a list of tried and tested hangover cures, personally endorsed by the author of this article and many of his friends and family:

1. Drink a liver tonic before and after the party/wedding/social gathering. Tablets and drinks containing vitamins A, B (particularly B6 and B12) and C are excellent. The best tonic is arguably milk thistle. This is a strong anti-oxidant, which helps your liver break down alcohol. You will find this at most pharmacies or drug stores.

2.

Drink some water after every drink.

3. Preferably stop drinking at least an hour before you go to sleep.

4. Eat something, like a sandwich, before you go to sleep.

5. Drink aspirin or paracetamol before you go to sleep to help with the imminent head ache. You’ll probably forget, so make it easy for yourself: put it next to the bed you plan to sleep in.

6. Drink plenty water before you go to sleep – a liter or more if you can.

7. Have a bottle of water next to your bed so that you don’t have to get up during the night to go and drink water.

8. Don’t drink and drive. There is nothing intensifying a hangover like waking up to the fact of having crashed your car last night. Or even worse, waking up in hospital. More importantly, don’t put your life and that of others at risk.

9. Get enough sleep. You usually require more sleep than usual because your body is “working harder” than usual in your sleep to digest the alcohol.

10. Have something to eat as soon as you wake up. A big oily breakfast usually does wonders.

11. If you feel sick or nauseous, have a tablet that specifically treat this.

12. Do some exercise after you have eaten. Nothing strenuous, just something to break a light sweat like a 30 minute walk. Or sit an a sauna for a few minutes.

13. Take a shower after you have exercised.

14. Consume plenty of water and fruit juice during the day.

Hopefully by following the above hangover cures, your next hangover will be largely avoided or taken in your stride.

In a bold move by Somali pirates off the coast of Ethiopia, a crew of vengeful teenagers has seized control of a Chinese steamship that fatefully took the scenic route through the Indian Ocean, whilst en route to New York City.

The deft raid by the pirates appears to make obsolete the simple and highly lucrative illegal arms market, which has included new “easy-to-use” models of the RPG-7 – that’s a rocket propelled grenade launcher for those who do not play video games or engage in recreational jihad – as well as tanks, counterfeit Barbie Dolls, and bathtub gin.

Weekend Box Office Results For November 7Th

The November 7th weekend was a great one for the box office as new great films were added to the entertaining films already playing in theaters.  This weekend the box office was dominated by the unstoppable duo of Megamind (Will Ferrell) and Metroman (Brad Pitt).  The animated film Megamind, from Paramount Studios brought in just over million making it the third #1 opening for Paramount in the last four weekends.  Megamind also beat out the successful 2010 animated film How To Train Your Dragon by about million on it’s opening weekend.

The second place spot at the box office belonged to the premiere of Due Date.  This hilarious comedy stars Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis as the two travel across the country to get Peter Highman (Downey Jr.) to witness the birth of his first child.  Due Date gathered .5 million in box office earnings in it’s opening weekend. This film is directed by Todd Phillips and was his second most successful film opening behind The Hangover which earned million.  Todd Phillips took this project as he awaits the filming of The Hangover 2 which will be released in 2011.

The Tyler Perry film For Colored Girls grabbed the third box office position making just over million.  This film has an incredibly talented cast with names like: Thandie Newton, Janet Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, Kerry Washington, Loretta Devine, and Phylicia Rashad.  The film had a great opening weekend but was the worst opening for Tyler Perry since his 2008 film The Family That Preys.

The rest of the top ten for the weekend included: Red(.9 million), Saw 3D (.2 million), Paranormal Activity 2 (.3 million), Jackass 3D (.1 million), Hereafter ( million), Secretariat ( million), The Social Network (.6 million), Life As We Know It (.1 million).  Enjoy your weekend of great current movies and make sure to get some delicious popcorn!
